Welcome, Myka and Carlos!
Bodyfelt Mount warmly welcomes Myka McConnell and Juan “Carlos” Shay, who will be sharing the duties of receptionist/administrative assistant.
Myka is an Oregon native entering her junior year at Portland State University. She is studying psychology and art history, and hopes to become an elementary school teacher at the same school she attended as a child. She loves hiking, kayaking and spending time with her dog. When she is not out exploring, she likes to spend time painting or visiting the Portland Art Museum.
Carlos was born near Salinas Air Force Base in California, and grew up an Air Force brat. He and his family have lived in Germany, Iceland, Guam, Spain and Texas. After beginning his college studies in Hawaii and Spain, Carlos is now attending Portland State University where he is very close to earning a degree in Social Science and a minor in Secondary Education. He hopes to become a high school teacher and basketball coach teaching military children at the Department of Defense Dependents Schools.
Welcome to the firm!
The Best Lawyers in America 2018 Guide Includes Four Bodyfelt Mount Partners
Bodyfelt Mount is pleased to announce the inclusion of Deanna Wray, Vicki Smith, Skip Winters and Rick Lee in the 2018 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
Deanna was selected for her work in personal injury and product liability litigation defense, Vicki was recognized in insurance litigation, Skip was selected in construction litigation, and Rick was honored in insurance law and insurance litigation. Rick was also singled out as the 2018 “Lawyer of the Year” for insurance litigation in the Portland area. The Lawyer of the Year recognition is awarded to attorneys with the highest overall peer feedback for a specific practice area and geographic location. Only one lawyer is recognized as Lawyer of the Year for each specialty and location, so receiving this designation reflects a very high level of respect earned by an attorney in the community.
Congratulations to all on these accomplishments!
Modeling For a Cause
Bodyfelt Mount was honored to be a sponsor in this year’s OWLS fashion show, where Jamison McCune strutted his stuff as a model. This fashion show benefits the Dress for Success program, which provides interview clothing, career development, and job resources for disadvantaged women in Portland and Southwest Washington who are trying to break the cycle of poverty. Kirstin Abel and Kristen Stedman have both participated as models in past years. Bodyfelt is proud to support this cause.
Super Lawyers
Oregon Super Lawyers is again recognizing Deanna Wray, Rick Lee, and Heather Bowman in its 2017 issue. Deanna is named in civil litigation defense, and is also featured in the magazine’s editorial page “Discovery.” Rick is named in insurance coverage, and for the fourth year in a row, Heather was selected to the Rising Stars list. Congratulations to Deanna, Rick, and Heather!
Introducing The Commons Law Center
Bodyfelt Mount is pleased to announce its support for and involvement in the launch of a new nonprofit organization, The Commons Law Center. Its mission is “to revolutionize access to basic legal services, information, and support for underserved people.”
The Commons Law Center will celebrate its kick-off on June 7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Stoel Rives in downtown Portland. Read more about the organization here.
A Class Act Returns!
After its grand finale in 2015, A Class Act recently made a comeback for the 22nd annual classical music and dessert revue. Bodyfelt Mount once again proudly sponsored the event, which supports the Bill and Ann Shepherd Legal Scholarship Fund. This scholarship provides financial assistance to third-year and fourth-year law students who dedicate themselves to fighting bigotry and discrimination, especially regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. Deanna Wray is a past Shepherd Scholar. This year’s event was held on April 28 and featured Rose City Trombones.
