Eric “Skip” Winters is a fifth-generation Oregonian, raised in the Willamette Valley. He divides his time and energy between providing experienced and efficient representation for his clients and exploring all of the outdoor activities that Oregon has to offer with his family. In spite of his “offensive lineman” build, Skip is an avid cyclist and has participated in the week-long Cycle Oregon rides and the two-day Seattle to Portland ride many times (much to the delight of cyclists who draft in his wake). He has also managed to stumble his way to the finish of a half-dozen half-marathons in the last couple of years.
When not outdoors, Skip is an amateur baker, often using the firm as a “test kitchen” for new bread, cake, and pastry recipes.
Practice & Experience
Skip joined the firm in 1995 as an associate, and became a partner in 2002. Over the years, Skip has practiced general civil litigation in both Oregon and Washington state and federal courts. His practice focuses on employment, construction defect, products liability, and commercial disputes. Skip served as a pro tem judge for Clackamas County for six years (2015-2021). He has also served as an arbitrator.
Skip has tried multiple-week trials involving dram shop, commercial, construction, and contract actions. He has defended developers and subcontractors in multiple-week construction defect binding arbitrations. In addition to employment litigation, Skip also represents clients in Oregon's BOLI, Washington's L&I, and Federal EEOC matters.
Based on feedback from peers regarding his legal ability and high ethical standards, Skip achieved an AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating an attorney can obtain. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America for construction litigation.
